Altona Climate Resilience Assessment of Existing and Proposed Drainage Infrastructure

Altona Climate Resilience Assessment of Existing and Proposed Drainage Infrastructure

A climate change resilience assessment was undertaken for existing and proposed drainage infrastructure components in a commercial and residential area of the Town of Altona, Manitoba. The assessment was conducted using the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC) Protocol of Engineers Canada and in accordance with Infrastructure Canada’s Climate Lens General Guidance, version 1.1. The climate change resilience assessment concluded that Altona’s existing drainage infrastructure system is currently vulnerable to extreme rainfall events and is also vulnerable to future climate change conditions for the 2050s and 2080s. The climate change resilience assessment for the proposed drainage infrastructure system identified ways to mitigate risks in the current plan.
